The Blue Marble is a design for a 3.8m photovoltaic kinetic artwork that explores the tension between light and gravity. As the sun shines on it, a giant sphere rolls up hill. At night it rolls down the hill releasing the stored gravitational potential energy into light. It is first in a series of artworks dealing with aspects of gravitation. Detailed designs have been commissioned by the city of Albuquerque and the artwork is currently at jury stage.
